U.S. Virigin Islands suspended hurricane recovery efforts on the islands
in order to prepare for potential landfall by Hurricane Maria on
Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. Hurricane Maria is expected to
strengthen to a major hurricane by Monday evening.

Storm preparation efforts on the U.S. VI are being shifted to readying
shelters and distributing as much food and water to people in advance of
the storm. The U.S. VI Governor is warning people most of the temporary
repairs from the last hurricane will be knocked out again when Hurricane
Maria strikes the islands.

Hurricane Maria will also impact other leeward islands beginning Monday,
including Guadeloupe, Dominica, St. Kitts, Nevis, and Montserrat, and
Martinique.
