I stopped using their [network] hardware and shifted to using real Access-Points do perform that function. They provide too little intelligence when there is trouble, so rebooting becomes standard operating procedure. I went to unifi hardware for my house and have been very happy since. A bit "overkill", but I can ssh in and poke, as well as use the admin webpage to futz with settings and see when the kids wake up and are on the internet at 5am when they should be sleeping.

I can setup a 802.1q trunk/vlan and do guestnet with varying levels of access/speed.

I do need to install an outdoor unit in the back of the yard to improve coverage there :)
