Way too late now  for unreserving 240/4  to help.
Now, if it had been unreserved in 2003 or so, there might not be so
many devices to upgrade.
There could a case to be made for unreserving 240/4 now,  so perhaps
it could be used in 2020,.

hm......  for Linux,  there was a patch for this in 2008,  in the
kernel proper should
be in 2.6.25 and newer,
