What is being 'ON NET' good for these days?

Gentlemen, 

It's not a question of being on-net or not. It is question of given scarce network resources, where would you prefer to use them? 

My suspicion is that your vendors think they can generate a higher return by using those resources to serve many customers as opposed to dedicate them to just one. 

IP can often a higher return because of statistical multiplexing.
