South Jersey Gas Co. crews were digging about 5:25 p.m. when
they hit the 2-inch gas main, said utility spokesman Al Ruggiero.

I'll close my input by saying this was clearly distribution,
not transmission. Transmission lines are ~10-30" dia and do not
run through resi. areas {for the most part...}.

The scary part is where they do go --- including along railroad
rights-of-way, next to existing highway easements, etc.
Sound familiar?
