Poppycock!

If you really believed this then you would be writing paper letters and
sending them via snail mail to your reps in Washington, to the NSF and to
the Department of Commerce.

How on earth can the government continue to issue the contract for such a
critical infrastructure component to a company that has proven itself,
time and time again, to be incompetent, both technically and at the
managerial level? There must be some kind of Washington backroom dealings
or bribery going on. Any one of the major Internet backbone providers
could do a better job than NSI.

And maybe it's about time that backbone providers band together and create
a consortium that could take over this responsibility from the government
since backbone providers have the proven operational expertise to run such
infrastructure. This includes the root nameserver system and the
registration database backend for generic TLDs and the whois system.
