Char Description
-------- ------------------
* The probe timed out.
? Unknown packet type.
A Administratively unreachable. Usually, this output indicates that an
access list is blocking traffic.
H Host unreachable.
N Network unreachable.
P Protocol unreachable.
Q Source quench.
U Port unreachable.
Similarly, for PING:
Char Meaning
----- -----------------
! Each exclamation point indicates receipt of a reply.
. Each period indicates the network server timed out while waiting for
a reply.
U A destination unreachable error PDU was received.
C A congestion experienced packet was received.
I User interrupted test.
? Unknown packet type.
& Packet lifetime exceeded.
