Hi everyone,

Playground is a hardware development studio and venture fund that has
raised over $300M from strategic partners such as Foxconn, Google, HP,
Seagate, Tencent and others.  Our goal is to make it easier for
entrepreneurs to start companies that build hardware products -- by
providing valuable resources and expertise.  Our Palo Alto California
facility is 100k sqft of collaborative workspace, and we have state of the
art tools and toys that enable all forms of product development.

*Job Description:*

Playground is looking for a Senior Network Engineer who will own the
infrastructure as their product, and offer ISP-like services to our
portfolio companies.  Our network is built to provide a highly automated
service -- and you will be responsible for building a lot of the systems
that support our "self service" model.

The network is comprised predominantly of Juniper routing and switching
hardware, with multiple high-speed fiber interconnects to our upstream
providers.

You will routinely work with vendors, peers, and software engineers to
advance the state of the art in automated deployment.

*Role and responsibilities:*

   - Architect and deploy a highly automated network for our portfolio
   companies
   - Work closely with the engineering and admin teams to complete
   day-to-day operational tasks
   - Provide wisdom and experience that extends our state-of-the-art network
   - Build tools and user interfaces that deploy network end points
   - Monitor the operation and health of our network
   - Combat denial of service attacks using automated tools
   - Provide wisdom and mentorship for our portfolio companies IT staff

*Experience:*

   - Experience with Juniper network products, including the EX, QFX, MX,
   and SRX platforms
   - Experience with 802.1x and RADIUS (freeradius.org a plus)
   - Experience with InfoBlox DNS and DHCP appliances and developer APIs
   desired, but not required
   - Experience with Docker or other virtualization/container technologies
   - Experience with LDAP and associated backing-stores
   - Familiarity with ISP-like environments
   - Familiarity with Public Peering (IX) Internet exchanges
   - Familiarity with dynamic routing protocols
   - Basic understanding of denial of service attack types, and common
   mitigation techniques
   - Medium -> Expert experience with Linux
   - Medium -> Expert experience with Python or similar programming
   environment
   - You will also have the opportunity to work closely with the various
   entrepreneurs within the studio who are each building successful
   companies.  With your guidance they will become self sufficient within
   their own IT services as they prepare for graduation.

*Qualifications:*

   - Minimum 5 years experience in similar roles demonstrating successful
   network architecture and deployment
   - Familiarity with the following systems at an administrator level:
    Juniper routing and switching, distributed virtual switch architectures,
   VMware deployments, Aruba wifi and mobility controllers, Linux (ubuntu),
   scripting and apache web server config and deployments
   - 802.1x, Radius, LDAP, DHCP, DNS
   - Python programming and at least one other scripting language
   - Eagerness to build robust and scalable systems
