Dear NANOG 56 Attendee:

We look forward to seeing you at NANOG 56, hosted by Terremark a Verizon
Company, October 21-24, 2012, at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel. We are
expecting strong attendance, with nearly 495 registered attendees as of
this date. This message contains information and brief reminders to help
you prepare for the NANOG meeting.

Agenda and Highlights

Check-in

Meeting registration & check-in is in the Grand Hall, located on the first
floor. When you arrive at the meeting, please check-in at the NANOG
registration desk to pick up your name badge, T-shirt, attendee gifts and
important handouts. The registration desk will be open during the following
hours: Sunday Noon to 6:00 p.m., Monday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday 8 a.m. to
5 p.m., and Wednesday 8 a.m. to Noon. In addition, there will be committee
members available at the Membership Table, near registration, during Breaks
beginning on Sunday afternoon.Monday's Newcomers Breakfast with Old Timers
(Meet and Greet the NANOG community and start socializing) will be in
Houston A-B, located on the second floor. Monday's Beer n’ Gear will be in
the Houston Ballroom.

Community and Member Meeting

We invite you to attend and participate in the NANOG Member Meeting on
Sunday, October 21st, from 5:45-6:45 p.m. in the Dallas Ballroom C-D. The
Member Meeting, hosted by the NANOG Board, is an important opportunity to
learn about organizational updates and communicate with the Board and other
NANOG committees. In addition, candidates for the 2012 open Board seats
will be on hand to answer any questions regarding their interest in serving
on the Board of Directors.  All attendees are welcome.

2012 Elections

NANOG 56 will be home to the annual NANOG election process.  Complete

Newcomers Breakfast

If this is your first NANOG meeting, you are encouraged to attend the
Newcomers Breakfast with Old Timers (meet and greet the NANOG community and
start socializing) at 8:30 a.m. Monday in Houston A-B, where Board,
committee members and other long-time NANOGers will talk about the
organization, the meetings, and how to make best use of both. Please plan
to attend to learn more about NANOG and how to get the most out of your
first meeting. Power breakfast for all attendees is available on Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Grand Hall.

Socials

We are pleased to remind you of the following special opportunities to
gather outside the formal meeting;

Sunday, October 21st, at 7:30 p.m. Terremark, a Verizon Company  is holding
an off-site Welcome social for attendees at a venue called “7 at 150”.  A
special night is planned for all attendees including gifts, games, open
bar, music, and enough appetizers for all.  Transportation to the off-site
is also provided.

Monday, October 22nd, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. NANOG Beer n’ Gear in the
Houston Ballroom.

And at 8:00 p.m., Brocade, CyrusOne and Netflix invite you the after party
“Peer Plush” at Plush Night Club, which will include an open bar, BBQ and
Tex-Mex food, as well as good music.

Tuesday, October 23rd, at 6:00 p.m. ARIN is hosting a Happy Hour in the
Chaparral Ballroom, 37th Floor, at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel.  An
opportunity for both NANOG internet operator and ARIN policy discussions to
occur outside of the structured NANOG and ARIN meeting formats.

In-room Internet Access

If you are staying at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel under the NANOG group rate,
in-room Internet access is complimentary. When you check in, the hotel
should provide you with instructions for complimentary usage.

Ground Transportation from Dallas International Airport:

About a 25 minute drive to the hotel and approximately $50 USD and is
provided by local taxis.

Parking at the hotel via valet is $26 USD for 24 hours and $19 USD for
self-parking.
